Using Playlists

I love this feature in PT.  Playlists enable you to quickly record new takes on any track and then easily switch between takes once they’re recorded.

When you are in the edit window (showing all the recorded waveforms) click on the double-arrow next to the track name. Then click “new..” and PT will rename a new playlist with a “.01″ after it (i.e. kick.01).  Once you click OK, the playlist will be created and you will have a blank track.  The original “kick” track will still be in the regions list.  Once kick.01 is recorded, you can switch between the “kick” and “kick.01″ playlist them by clicking on the double-arrow and selecting the take.

Another quick tip is to save a new session if you have a different combination of takes that you want to compare.
